Calling ALL INDIANS!

As terrorism strikes all parts of India - the Delhi bombings, the attacks against Christians in Orrisa &Bihar, rape, murder, pillaging, atrocities committed against the common man by policemen, politicians and many of us - I am struck by the horror of how easily we get into debates and verbal abuse and blame games and DO NOTHING!

Those educated few of us still left, anyone who ever went to a school, learnt-rather mugged until they would never forget- can we even recall the Preamble to the Constitutuion of India? Does this mean nothing after 61 years of independence?

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN, SOCIALIST, SECULAR, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HERE BY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.

While I saw debates rage across all television channels last night, it struck me as odd that terrorism is now being categorised! Any act by one man / group that terrorises another is terrorism! Are bombings so different from rape - perhaps you should ask the person being raped. Are blasts so different from people being terrorised by vandalism, threats to their families & kidnappings - perhaps you should ask those being attacked? Is bloodshed from a bomb so different from communal riots caused by our politicians or inhuman beatings neing meted out by our policemen - perhaps you should ask the innocent?

Where has our intelligence gone? Are not all of the above acts of treason punishable by death? Why are all such groups and people being allowed to live in my country and our armies being sent to our borders to ward of external threats when we threaten our free, democarcy from within, more?

Do you remember our Pledge?
India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders, respect, and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well being and prosperity alone, lies my happiness.

Where is that country? Where is India? All i see are States and people constantly asking me which caste / state / religion I belong to? Isnt is obvious to all that religion divides and only faith can unite? Religion is and has always been politically motivated to divide or control and only faith transcends all these differences?

Wake up India and believe in yourself if not God, believe in the bond that is humanity, believe in the brotherhood of togetherness, believe in the cause that is peace, believe in the love that can only be received by giving it out to another.

REMEMBER

INDIA IS MY COUNTRY AND ALL INDIANS ARE MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS.....

INDIA IS A SOVEREIGN, SOCIALIST, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC....

Anything else is treason and must be abolished and banished forever without trial!
